Many landlords in the Northern Territory have taken their rental properties off the market in response to the recent tenancy law changes.
The changes include a clause that presumes tenants have a
right to keep pets by providing written notice to landlords.
As a result, the REINT have started a petition to stop the
NT government from removing the rights of landlords and are prepared to take
the issue right up to the August State elections.
The REINT has sent the petition to its members and have
urged them to sign it, stating that the State Government needs to listen to the
advice of its "legislation scrutiny committee”.
